Feds put money into Thunder Bay’s water high quality

A major federal authorities funding meant to revive water high quality and ecosystem well being within the Thunder Bay space was introduced on Oct. 10.

Minister of Indigenous Providers Patty Hajdu introduced $663,500 in funding beneath the Freshwater Motion Plan for six tasks to help actions on behalf of Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Setting and Local weather Change.

They’re:

  • $230,000 for Lakehead College to revive riparian and coastal habitat for fish and wildlife within the Thunder Bay Space of Concern, in addition to construct options to filter stormwater earlier than it reaches Lake Superior.
  • $108,500 for Lakehead College to implement the Thunder Bay Space of Concern Wildlife Habitat Technique and facilitate group engagement.

These are six of 24 tasks just lately funded beneath the Nice Lakes Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative, a part of the Authorities of Canada’s Freshwater Motion Plan to guard and restore freshwater our bodies of nationwide significance.
