Uganda’s Ministry of Tourism Initiates Birding Analysis to Increase Tourism Sector

The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities in Uganda has taken a major step in the direction of selling birdwatching tourism within the nation.

With over 1,000 hen species representing about 11% of the world’s hen species, Uganda has a singular benefit within the birding sector over its East African neighbors.

Nonetheless, challenges corresponding to accessibility, information gaps, and costly gear have hindered the expansion of this tourism product.

To deal with these points and strategically place Uganda because the world’s hen watching haven, the Ministry has directed the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to conduct birding analysis.

The information collected shall be used to reinforce the strategic advertising of this distinctive tourism providing on the worldwide stage.

Sam Mwandha, Govt Director of UWA, emphasised the significance of analysis in birding tourism.

“The shortage of complete information on hen species and their habitats has been a limitation. By conducting thorough analysis, we will establish key birding hotspots and develop tailor-made experiences for vacationers,” he said.

Along with the analysis initiative, the Confederation of Uganda Tourism Affiliation (CUTA) has urged the federal government to draft a complete birding technique.

Martin Mugarra, the State Minister for Tourism, highlighted that the technique would tackle the present challenges within the sector and goal to fetch over 2 billion USD in income inside the subsequent three years.
